Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a commonly used technique for making a diagnosis, but also for evaluating the effect of treatment and accurately monitoring recovery after an injury.
What is ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a diagnostic technique used to visualize the internal structures of the body. It uses high frequency sound waves to generate images of organs, tissues and structures such as tendons, muscles and joints.
When do we use ultrasound?
In orthopedic examination, ultrasound helps identify injuries, inflammation, degenerative changes and other abnormalities that may be the cause of lameness or reduced performance in the horse.
What are the benefits of ultrasound?
It allows us to accurately assess the specific location and severity of the problem, allowing a targeted diagnosis and treatment plan to be developed.
By carrying out regular ultrasound examinations, we can monitor the progression of the healing process and adjust the rehabilitation plan if necessary. This way we can rehabilitate as effectively as possible and ensure a safe and successful rehabilitation of your horse.
