The purpose of a general clinical examination is to examine and evaluate the health of the horse. But can also be used to create a baseline for future health assessments.
Regularly repeating a clinical examination helps monitor the horse's long-term health and detect any problems before they become more serious and lead to more complex conditions. It is an important part of preventative care for horses and can help identify a wide range of conditions/symptoms such as;
– Infections
– Parasitic infections
– Digestive problems
– Hormonal imbalance
– Musculoskeletal disorders
– Reduced performance
– Lameness
– Weight loss
- Decreased appetite
– Etc.
Sometimes additional blood tests are of added value to obtain more information about the horse's health.
